January 28th 2010

Another day has come and gone and Makoa is more precious than ever. He didn’t eat all that well today and in fact lost a couple ounces, but I’m pretty sure it’s just because he’s worried about his Mommy. To tell you the truth, so am I.

I know getting up every morning and coming to the hospital and spending all day there is really difficult for Tiffany. I have the luxury of escaping by going to work and trying to support my family. Even though I have Makoa in my heart every moment of the day, I’m not phyisically sitting at the hospital with him like Tiff.  Everyone tells her that she needs to spend less time at the hospital. While I agree, you can’t expect a Mother to leave her child in the NICU and be fine with it. Even though the nursing staff is exceptional, it goes against our human nature.

It’s a very intersting routine we’ve fallen into, perhaps not the healtiest, but we are able to spend time with Makoa and let him know how much we love him. It really doesn’t matter what anyone says, Tiffany doesn’t want to leave his side, and I completely understand. For any of you who really know my Wife, you know that Tiffany was meant to be a Mom. She is absolutely amazing. In fact, all the important women in my life are amazing Mothers, but Tiff has the special something about her and the way she is with our kids.

The ironic thing is that she is 100% by-the-book when she’s pregnant. While other people might have a glass of wine or a piece of sushi, not Tiff. I know she thinks it’s unfair that there are women who smoke and drink who have healthy babies. I’m sure it’s hard when she sees mothers taking their newborns home everyday. I think it’s just hard.

And with all that, there is the search for peace. I know today was particularly tough for Tiffany and she was feeling very down. A wonderful sunset stroll on the beach with Nainoa, chasing after birds is all that she needed to pick her spirits up. While I know this rollercoaster will proably continue for some time, I pray that when she feels down, she can simply think of the waves. It is in that peace, surrounded by God, that will get us through the tough days.

So thankful God gave us a moment with you last night Tiffany. After reading Lindsey’s post it was nice knowing we could encourage you on one of your really down days..Those are what I call God moments.. He knows what we need and sends those to help lift us up when we have fallen down.. You are a fighter, and you will make it through these challenges and come out a stronger woman of God.. On those days you have a hard time believing this, please remember that God haa placed you on all of our hearts and we are holding you up in prayer. You are LOVED AND SO IS YOUR FAMILY, by all of us and GOD!

Your stories make me cry – You are all in our thoughts and prayer – I know exactly what Tiff is going through – Abbi was there for only 1 week but it felt like a life time. The staff are amazing(stacey) The head of the NICU is Mrs. Yokomoto – tell her you are friends of mine – I worked with her son at Trump Garrett is his name. She will know. We got a lot of help knowing her. Thanks for the posts. Prayers to you all and big HUGS too. Keep growing strong Makoa. LUV TEAM CANADA

I so agree with Bob and Mikie. You are not alone in this as the Holy Spirit is prompting our spirit to uplift all of you. It’s not a coincidence that we are all prompted to pray, call, or stop by when you need it most. I pray you feel His strength in the moments you are stretched to your limit. When we are weak, He is strong. That’s why He is God and we are not…lean on Him and you will discover a strength you never thought you had…we love you guys!

Hi Lindsey and Tiffany, I want to pass along all the love and support and encouragement that I possibly can.
I know this is hard for you guys, So I wrote this for you.

    One day at a time
    is all we can take
    remember to be strong
    its for our own sake.

    God gives us test
    to help us grow,
    why he does things
    I don’t always know.

    May this little setback
    be out of your way
    because each morning
    starts a new day!

    Trust in your “angels”
you will feel them all around
In the time of your lonlines
Is when they will be found!!

    Hugs from Virginia!!!!!
